This event unraveled the facts and perceptions around Natural Cosmetics while exploring the connections between Health, Sustainability and Natural Cosmetics. At the core of this event lied the theme of the benefits of using Natural Products and top trending topics. The main goal was to enhance the understanding of the state-of-the-art science and thinking in this area through three sessions:
S1: The benefits of using Natural, Plant-based, Personal Care products for People and Environment
S2: Circular and Sustainable Beauty: ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’
S3: Closing the Circulatory gap: A Focus on Upcycled beauty
In the First panel, Dr. Afrooz Zirakzadeh, founder of ESSENTA, talked about the benefits of using Natural Plant-based, Personal Care products for People and Environment. She mentioned the growing awareness of environmental impacts and health trends toward green consumption patterns in environmentally friendly products, including cosmetic products with natural ingredients. She highlighted that as consumers become more conscious of the products they choose, demand for “sustainable,” “environmentally friendly,” and “ethical” features are increasing enormously.
Dr. Elham Eghbali founder and owner of SkinChakra who has been teaching, training and consulting chemists and non-chemist in the industry about formulating and testing “Natural and Plant based” Personal Care since 2012, presented valuable insight in her session titled: “Circular and Sustainable Beauty: ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’”.

Anna Crovetto who has worked within the cosmetics industry, both in the UK and across Europe over the last 10 years and currently is the Community Lead of the Upcycled Beauty Company based in London was the third panelist. Anna provided insightful information in her session titled: “Closing the Circulatory Gap: A Focus on Upcycled Beauty”.
She shed light on such a key and rising topic and shared attempts to put upcycled ingredients on a well-deserving pedestal. As she addressed myths about Upcycled Ingredients, there should be no concern regarding safety and performance of the upcycled ingredients and upcycled beauty products. It is all about the value! Reusing ingredients and keeping resources in the loop by incorporating them in beauty products. The upcycled ingredients are potential innovation and will have a huge role in sustainability.
